Salon Veritas

Salon Veritas fig. 09

Salon Veritas is a studio inside Trade Salon Studios, a salon-suites complex off Six Forks Road in Midtown Raleigh. Owner Ashley McCauley has roughly twenty years behind the chair and runs the salon from a private appointment suite within the complex. The booking is online through the salon’s own site rather than through a third-party platform, and most services on the menu carry a published starting price. The pricing transparency is the salon’s most-underappreciated feature in a market where many Raleigh salons publish nothing at all.

The color menu is the deepest part of the service offering. All-over color starts at $95, full foils at $155, partial foils at $125, balayage at $185, and partial balayage at $150. Bleach retouch and glaze is a $200 service, and color correction is quoted by consultation, which is the honest answer for that kind of work. Express Grey Coverage Root Touch-up is a named line at $95. Keratin treatments start at $250. Extensions are HotHeads-brand, with the install priced by consultation. The product lines on the back-bar are Milbon, K18, 1922 by J.M. Keune, HotHeads, Zenagen, and Four Reasons.

The wedding side is unusually built out for a smaller-format studio. Two dedicated makeup artists are part of the team, Nicolette Heshley and Priscilla Stolochi, and updo styling starts at $150. The salon also offers spray tans ($45) and event-day packages. Men’s cuts are a named service line starting at $45. Hours run Monday through Saturday with a slow start on Monday and Tuesday (11am and noon respectively) and earlier opens Wednesday through Saturday. Closed Sunday.

What they're
known for.

fig. 01

Pricing transparency

Almost every service on the menu has a published starting price. That includes color, foils, balayage, keratin, root touch-ups, blowouts, and updo styling. Color correction and extensions are quoted by consultation, which is the honest answer for both. Most Raleigh salons publish either no prices or a single 'from $' floor; Veritas publishes a complete tier.

fig. 02

HotHeads extension line

The salon carries HotHeads as its extension brand, which uses tape-in and weft installations designed for relatively quick application and a flexible removal-and-reset schedule. Pricing is by consultation because length and density change the install math.

Wedding work

Two dedicated makeup artists are part of the team (Nicolette Heshley and Priscilla Stolochi). Updo styling starts at $150. The salon offers full wedding and special-event services, which is rare in a smaller-format studio.
